Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 12:45PM Congratulations to Hallie Kowalski, Peter Fleckenstein and Hunter Simmons, who qualified at the July 31 divisional individual championship meet for All Stars. At the All Star meet on Sunday, August 7, Hallie placed 21 of 31 Freshmen Girls, Peter placed 8th of 28 Freshman Boys and Hunter placed 5th of 24 Intermediate Boys. Way to go divers!
Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 10:56AM After swapping points with DR in the early events, Highlands ultimately won the meet by 4 points.
In the Freshmen events, Evie Marceca placed 2nd, and Peter Fleckenstein and John Sloan placed 1st and 3rd, respectively. Kevin Engel, Conor Fitzpatrick and Jack Witherell swept the Junior Boys. Our Intermediates took 1st and 3rd in both events--Elle Wiberg (her 4th win this season!) and Zoe Lunn for the girls, and Hunter Simmons and Jack Karangelan for the boys. Though outmanned in the Senior events, Jordan Kruger added a point with 3rd place in Senior Girls and Jacob Lunn nabbed 2nd in Senior Boys.
Special kudos to 7-yr old Ellie Simmons, who dived as a Junior (11-12 age group) and finished just 4 points behind the 3rd place diver.
We're proud of the great progress ALL of our divers have made this season and look forward to seeing what you all will be able to do next summer!

We had 13 divers (the largest DR contingent in at least several years) diving in the 23rd Annual Crackerjack Meet at Cardinal Hill pool this past Sunday. There were nearly 300 divers (many events having more than 20 or 30 divers). All of our divers did a great job, including: Summer Dunmeyer, Mia Galdiz, Emma Jenks, Ruth Lewarne, Henry Lewarne, Paul Lewarne, Rachel Love and Sam Partin.
The following divers won medals for placing 6th or above: Vivian Marceca-- 3rd place, 7-yr old girls; Hannah Love--4th place, 7-yr old girls; Angelica Henriquez--5th place, 8-yr old girls; Kevin Engel--1st place, 12 -yr old boys
In addition, Hank Holley placed 7th out of 30 boys in the 6-yr old boys event, just missing winning one of the coveted 1st-6th place medals. Next year, Hank!
Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 11:18PM Even if our MIA divers had competed, undefeated Hamlet's depth would have carried the day. But DR had some good moments and several personal bests. In Freshman Boys, Peter Fleckenstein placed 2nd, less than 1 point behind Hamlet's first place diver, and Eli Mendelowitz was close behind with 3rd.
Conor Fitzpatrick scored a personal best at 90.15 points and took 3rd in Junior Boys, just 1.35 points and .05 points behind Hamlet's first and second place finishers. Emma Jenks, in her second dive meet ever, bested her prior meet's score in Junior Girls by 20 points (32% improvement)!
Ever reliable point-winner Elle Wiberg took 2nd in Intermediate Girls, and Jack Karangelan (diving up from Juniors) took 3rd in Intermediate Boys.
Our Seniors had a great night: Jordan Kruger and Sonia Lunn both dived personal bests to win 1st and 3rd in a close field of Senior Girls; finishing the evening, Jacob Lunn placed 1st (another personal best score?) and Brendan Kelly placed 2nd in Senior Boys.
