Facilities Planning Next Steps

After we spent the summer of 2011 talking to members about plans for Donaldson Run facilities improvements, our planning efforts took a lengthy hiatus this fall and winter as we awaited action by Arlington County on our request for variances from the County’s Water Recreation Facilities ordinance.  The County process took a lot longer than we anticipated, but the wait has paid off: on February 3rd we received notice that the County granted our variance requests.  The variances will help us address important design issues and allow us to make progress toward finalizing a comprehensive facilities plan for consideration by our members.  We look forward to getting back to work on the facilities plan.

Member Survey Results

At the December 2011 DRRA member meeting we discussed the results of the DRRA member survey conducted in 2009 and we realized we had not posted the results of the survey to the website.  The results are posted here in two parts, a presentation of the survey's statistical results and a compilation of written comments provided in response to the survey questions.

Narrated Facilities Plan Presentation

Here is a narrated presentation that provides an overview of the Donaldson Run long-range facilities plan as recommended by the DRRA Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee and the DRRA Board of Directors. Please direct any questions to president@drra.org.

DRRA Facilities Planning Update

The Donaldson Run Recreation Association Board of Directors has approved the Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee’s recommendations for facilities repairs and improvements at Donaldson Run.

This video provides an overview of the need for facilities improvements at Donaldson Run and the recommended facilities improvement plan.  

Please also review a detailed presentation about the plan.

We will conduct a series of in-person presentations at the pool the explain the recommended facilities improvement plan.  At each presentation, a member of the Donaldson Run board will be available to discuss the proposed plan and answer questions.  Please join us at the pool on one of these dates:

DRRA Members Letter and Report

On December 22, 2010, Donaldson Run's president and vice president posted a letter and report to members that provides a report on the facilities planning discussion at the December 8th members meeting and describes the plan for next steps in the Donaldson Run facilities planning and development process.
