Calling All Donaldson Run Divers (new and returning)!

The DR Divers want to offer a special invitation to parents of children who have never dived before. Diving is not hard. Our excellent coaches will show you how, at your own pace. Discover how much fun it is to participate in a organized sport and develop neighborhood friendships. We do more than just dive! Our activities create special bonds and childhood memories with a great group of children.

Plan on joining us for the pizza party on June 8th, where you can learn about diving, talk with friends and enjoy the refreshments.

Become Part of the Team

Donaldson Run Divers has been very successful in recent years. All the divers, especially the new divers, have learned many new skills. We look forward to another good year in 2008.

Katie will be returning for another season as our head coach. She did a wonderful job last year, teaching the new divers and improving the skills of the veterans. The assistant coaches will be returning from last year to help Katie. In addition, we also expect to have Tina, a former NCAA All-American diver, assist with the coaching on a part-time basis.

Registration

Download the registration (click on the links to the right), fill them out, and bring them along with a check ($80 per diver) to practice. They may also be picked up and dropped off at the pool (in the registration folder in the dive team file box at the desk) or mailed to Pam. If you have any questions, email us at dive@drra.org.

You may also register at the pizza party on June 8th.

2008 Season

We will be competing in Division 3 along with Highland Swim, Orange Hunt, Parliament, Manuta, and Rolling Hills. Dual meets with each of these teams will be held on Tuesday evenings, starting on June 24th. The wrap-up divisional meet is set for July 27th and the All Star Meet will be held on August 3rd. We will also have a 3-meter meet on July 13th and two "B" meets for developmental divers, and the traditional Crackerjack Meet on July 20th(also for developmental divers). If the past experience is a guide, the divers will have a lot of fun learning new skills and being part of the the team.

Taking a Break

Donaldson Run Divers

The summer diving season is short, which leaves plenty of time for other activities after the season. There are only five meets with team scores that determine team standings. For the team to do its best, we need every swimmer every Tuesday from June 24th through July 27th. Please plan vacations, camps, and other activities after the season ends. Don't let the kids miss out!

Practice Schedule

Divers will practice by age and ability group for about an hour on weekdays. Starting on May 19th through June 20th, practice will be in the evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. On June 23rd, practice will move to a mid-day time block, from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm and an evening block from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on certain days for those who can't make the mid-day time or who want additional practice. In addition, the coaching staff may conduct a "dry-land" segment (for stretching and technique development) starting a half hour before the regular practice.

Communication

We rely extensively on email to communicate important information. If you are interested in participating or just want to learn more, please make sure we have your current email address. Feel free to contact Pam or Tony, at DiveTeamMailList@drra.org.
