The pool opens about two weeks before Memorial Day and closes the end of September each year. It is heated. The hours are from noon to 9 pm during the swim team season, 10 am to 9 pm late summer, and from 2 to 8 pm before school is closed for the summer. 

The Pool sponsors:
(a) Early morning lap swimming from 6 am to 9 am, as well as several periods during the day.
(b) A swim team, dive team, and swim lessons.
(c) Swimnastics and special programs when enough people are interested.
(d) Private swimming and diving lessons are available at the lifeguards’ convenience.

Every year, in May, a complete schedule of events is given to pool users. The swimming and diving teams are quite active in the Northern Virginia Swimming and Diving League and are open to full member, special category, full summer, and August/September member’s children who have not graduated from high school.

The membership fee at the present time is $1,700 payable after notification that there is a vacancy in the Association’s 600 family roster and that you are #1 on the wait list. This fee is REFUNDABLE upon RESIGNATION from the Association excluding a non-refundable processing fee of $200. An additional fee of $50 is payable with the waiting list. Annual dues are based on the size of the family. A family of four pays $430/per year at this time. If you decline a permanent membership when it is offered, your name is removed from the list and should you so choose, you will have to reapply at a later date and move to the bottom of the list.

If you move from your home and out of the DRRA boundaries area, you may NOT retain your membership. The membership reverts back to the Association for resale and you will be refunded your membership fee. YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS NOT TRANSFERABLE TO THE PURCHASER OF YOUR HOME, or any other designee other than your children living in the DRRA area. 

Wait List and Special Category Membership: 
We try to accommodate as many families as possible on our Wait List by allowing them to swim in place of our full members who have chosen “inactive” status during a given year. Starting from the top of the wait list we invite approximately 125 families to swim for the entire summer as Special Category: full summer swimmers. At this time, there is a 4 to 5 YEAR WAIT for this status.

The charges for Special category Full Summer status are dependent upon the number of people in you family. At the present time, the fee for a four-person family to swim as “Special Category full summer swimmers” is $620. When all “full summer” slots are filled, we continue down the wait list and offer about 125 August/September memberships, which allow families from the Wait List to swim from the first of August until pool closes in September. 

Families can swim as August/September members but not before AUGUST 1ST. At the present time, it costs $50 to get on the Wait List and $250 to swim Aug/Sept. swimming. The wait for Full Voting Membership (“Full Member” status) at DRRA is approximately 7 to 9 years. If you refuse the invitation to swim for a season your slot on the Wait List is not affected and you will be invited to swim the next year if possible. 

In order to be placed on the DRRA wait list please first confirm that you live within our membership boundary area. Then fill out the enclosed form and return it along with a check for $50 made payable to Donaldson Run Recreation Association. We will make every effort to have the pool available to you as soon as possible. In the spring you will be notified of your swim status, if any, for the coming season.
