Welcome to the 2013 swim season!

Dear Swimmers and Families,

We look forward to having you register with us soon.

Registration is now open on-line, at http://www.drra.org/swim-team-registration/  and it will continue until Friday, May 24th.  This season, your registration fee will include a DRRA Thunderbolts t-shirt and latex swim cap, but you MUST register before Friday, May 24st in order to receive these items.   T-shirts will be ordered in bulk on Friday, May 24st – and there will be no exceptions.  If you wish to purchase additional apparel, such as sweatshirts of pinnies, you can visit the “Donaldson Run Store” on Sport Fair’s website.

The traditional Swim Team Ice Cream Social will be held at the pool, on Sunday May 19th, 4-6 p.m..  The 2013 DRAA swim suit, the “Nike Swim Techno Camo” (in red):  available for girls in the Spider Back Tank as well as Modern Fast Back Tank and for boys in the jammer as well as brief, will be available for purchase from Sport Fair, along with other swim apparel, at the event.  These items will also be available for purchase in the store and on-line.

As a reminder: You are not required to purchase any of these items and you will receive the DRRA t-shirt and latex swim cap prior to the first meet as part of your registration.

Importantly, this year’s Ice Cream Social will also include a Parent/Coaches/Swimmer meeting at 5:00 p.m..  Please make every effort to attend with your swimmer, as this is the only meeting of its kind that we have scheduled.  Our coaches and team reps will be on site to relate important information and expectations, as well as to answer questions, about the 2013 season.

Additionally, FirstServe Tennis will be on site at the Ice Cream Social to take registrations and to answer questions about their summer classes.  As in the past, FirstServe conveniently offers its classes before and after each age group swim session across the street at Marcey Park.  More information about First Serve tennis classes can be found in the attached document.  You may also contact program director, Ryan Wilson, at ryanw@tennisforeveryone.net or (703)868-8172. Registration must be completed on-line at:  registration.arlingtonva.us under the "Take a Class" tab, Class # 320607.

Finally, please be ready for the beginning of our practice season, which will start on Monday, May 13th for all swimmers ages 7 & Older. The 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. practice will be for 11 & Older Swimmers and the 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. practice will be for 10 and Under Swimmers.  The “Thundersquad” (6 & Under practice) will begin on Tuesday, May 28th from 5 – 6 p.m..  NOTE:  An updated calendar of swim team meets and events has been attached for your convenience and will be accessible on the website soon.

If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer, please do not hesitate to contact Team Reps, Colleen Browne (cbrowne@djcc.org) or Lew Sawyer(lewsawyer@gmail.com).

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at the pool soon!

Sincerely,

Colleen Browne and Lew Sawyer
