Host Donaldson Run had a strong showing in the NVSL Division III Individual Championships held Saturday, July 30th. In a swim meet with 5 other teams, the Thunderbolts had ten 1st place finishes, set 4 team records and had 14 swimmers qualify for the NVSL All Star meet to be held next Saturday, August 6th.
Double winners for DR were John Sloan, 8 & under boys breast and back with a team record of 20.14 and Bryan Meade, 13-14 boys IM and free with a team record of 26.37.
Single winners were Stewart Brown, 15-18 boys IM with a team record of 1:02:43, (3rd place in breast); John Ford, 8 & under boys fly, (2nd place in backstroke); Andrew Fleckenstein, 13-14 boys fly, (2nd place in free); Ann Carpenter, 15-18 girls breast (4th place in free); Stasi Gustafson, 13-14 girls back and Jack Storrs, 13-14 boys breast. A team record was also set by 2nd place finisher, Will Tarkenton, in the 15-18 boys backstroke with a time of 29.47. The records broken by Meade and Brown were previously held by the Greenwood brothers and had stood for 30 years and 24 years, respectively.
In addition to those listed above, the following swimmers also qualified for the All Star meet: Billy Cowden, 15-18 boys free and fly; Lydia Carpenter, 15-18 girls free and IM; Max Fish, 15-18 boys breast and IM; Olivia Cox, 11-12 girls breast and IM and Christian Tiernan, 15-18 boys fly.
